New job creation milestone passed by business development center

Amy Lambert at the Small Business Development Center at the Starved Rock Country Alliance says this is a new milestone–100 jobs created in one calendar year. That 100th job is one of the seven at RPS Toys in downtown Ottawa. It’s the ninth business the center has helped get started this year. The goal is ten and Lambert thinks the center will make it.

Sue Vandervort owns RPS Toys. Before RPS Toys opened, she co-owned the recently closed Rock, Paper, Scissors for 11 years and started using the Small Business Development Center’s resources 12 years ago. Even after so long in business, she says every day is a learning experience and it’s nice to have the center to call on for help sometimes.

The Small Business Development Center held its 100th job celebration at RPS Toys at 820 LaSalle St. in Ottawa Saturday.
